Since a girl with congenital absence of vagina and uterus (vaginal agenesis )doesn't have a uterus, she won't get periods and can't give birth. She does, however, have eggs. So if and when a woman with congenital absence of vagina and uetrus (vaginal agenesis) wants to have a baby, her own eggs can be used, together with her partner's sperm, for in vitro fertilization. Once the egg is fertilized, the embryo(s) can then be implanted in the uterus of a gestational carrier (surrogate mother) to carry the pregnancy to term. In 2005, ChenFenglin, president of Beijing Antai Hospital successfully helped a girl to give birth to a baby with the aid of surrogate by her own mother, which by means of removing the mature ovum and her husband’s sperm to perform in vitro fertilization, then inject it into the reproductive tract of her mother. Nine moths later, a healthy baby-girl come to the world with weight of 3000g and height of 52cm. this case shows that, a hypoplastic vagina girl can also have her own child with the help of Modern medical techniques.
